Spotlight on Osanians: Get to know Julian
Welcome to our team member spotlight series! Check out our previous spotlights here.

In this blog, get to know Julian Vega (he/him), a Sales Development Representative here at Osano. Julian previously worked on the implementation and support side of technology companies. During his previous work, he developed his love for solving problems for clients and meeting new people. Outside of work, he enjoys fly-fishing, camping, hiking, and spending time with his silly golden doodle Scout.

1. Why did you decide to join Osano? Tell us the story of how you became an Osanian.

When I decided to make a career change and pivot into sales, I wanted to work for a mission-driven startup. If I was selling software-as-a-service (SaaS), it had to be for a purpose I cared about. I googled "B-Corp SaaS startups," and found Osano. From my first interaction with the company, I knew that working at Osano would be the best decision I could make for my career.

2. Describe the company in one word. What made you choose that word?

Powerhouse.

Osano has a team filled with extremely talented individuals who are always willing to help each other.

3. What do you do in your current role?

I work on our revenue team as an outbound SDR. The majority of my day is spent reaching out and speaking to businesses, trying to understand their needs for a privacy solution. Some companies have mature privacy programs, and I spend time helping them try to address specific privacy concerns. Other times, a company can be just getting started with their privacy initiatives; this is my favorite scenario because I love showing how easy it is to become compliant with Osano.

4. How does this role fit into your career goals? What put you on this career path?

This role gives me a clear path toward my career goal of becoming a Senior Account Executive. In previous roles, I found that my favorite part was identifying problems that clients were having and finding a solution for them. That mindset eventually led me into the world of sales, where I take that same approach every day when speaking to new businesses.

5. What made you want to join a data privacy company? What drew you to this industry?

I wanted to join a privacy company because I am passionate about data transparency. Privacy laws are confusing and tend to be a manual process for organizations to become compliant. I wanted to help others respect individuals' privacy and ensure their organization stays out of the headlines.

6. Which of Osano’s core values do you identify with the most? Why?

Delightful Experience.

I do my best to make sure every customer feels heard and supported. I ensure that the information I give them is easily digestible because, let's face it, data privacy isn’t {the easiest thing to understand} or {the most fun conversation}.

7. What’s your favorite thing to do outside of work?

My favorite thing to do outside of work is to hike the foothills of Boise, Idaho, with my dog Scout.

8. Is there anything else you’d like to add about your experience at Osano? Personal anecdotes, favorite team activities, ways your life has changed since starting your position, or anything else?

The most impactful thing at Osano for me is a person, and that is Dustin Joost, our CRO. Dustin has invested heavily into my success and has helped me uncover what my strengths are and how I can leverage them in my current role. His energy, enthusiasm, and optimism help drive our revenue team to new heights month after month.
