Osano vs. Ketch: Which Platform Fits Your Team?
Ketch and Osano both promise to take privacy work off your plate; they’re just best suited for different teams. Ketch treats privacy as data infrastructure, which suits companies with privacy or data engineers and who want to integrate privacy management into their tech stack. Osano is built for running a privacy program day to day. Our privacy experts keep the platform current, and our guarantee, something no other privacy vendor offers, backs up that work. Osano fits teams of every size, from a marketing lead who inherited privacy to a dedicated privacy team with better things for its engineers to do.
If you’re weighing a Ketch alternative, start with what your team and company look like and what resources you can dedicate to privacy compliance.
About Each Platform
What Ketch Does Well
Developer-first architecture. Ketch takes an API-first approach, making it best suited for teams that want to build privacy into their own stack. However, that depth has a learning curve. On G2, Ketch reviewers’ most-cited complaints are a steep learning curve, interface design, and navigation. Even small changes can take work: “changing simple things like colors and borders felt like a whole process,” wrote a small-business marketing lead on G2 (Aug. 2026).
Consent orchestration. Ketch can carry consent across devices and into downstream tools through an identity graph. If your data team has the time to wire it up, that’s a real capability. It also means Ketch builds and stores links between identifiers like cookies, device IDs, emails, and phone numbers. Data that can be tied back to a person is still personal data under laws like the GDPR, so that’s more personal information for you to secure, govern, and disclose.
Progressive consent. Ketch lets you ask for permissions at relevant moments in the customer journey instead of all at once in a first-visit banner, which can make each request feel more relevant. The rules on when tracking can start stay the same: in opt-in regions, non-essential trackers still have to wait until the visitor agrees, and every added prompt is one more decision you’re asking visitors to make.
AI governance. Ketch’s AI Sentry (in private beta as of this writing) is designed to keep personal data from reaching AI models without permission. It’s new, and Ketch hasn’t published customer results or which plans include it. Ketch’s Agent Network goes further: AI agents draft assessments and, by Ketch’s description, “can execute Ketch platform configuration changes autonomously.” That puts real compliance decisions in the hands of AI agents, which is a trade-off to weigh carefully.
What Osano Does Well
Built for whoever owns privacy. Whether privacy sits with a marketing lead, an in-house lawyer, an IT director, or a dedicated privacy team, Osano lets them run the program themselves: install one script, then manage banners, regions, and policies from the dashboard. A lead global privacy analyst summed it up on G2: “You don’t need to be a developer to manage the product which is great as a compliance professional.”
Expertise you don’t have to hire. Osano’s privacy experts follow new laws as they pass and keep the consent logic behind your banner current, so tracking every new state law doesn’t fall to you. A general counsel said, “I have confidence that Osano is handling our cookie issues for all jurisdictions.”
Room to grow. Most teams start with cookie consent and add more privacy program capabilities as new laws, consumer requests, and audits demand it. Subject Rights takes in, verifies, and routes data subject requests, and vendor and privacy assessments help you document risk when you bring on a new tool or launch a new project. As your company adds systems and finds new uses for data, it gets harder to know where personal data lives and who agreed to what. Data Mapping finds and manages personal data in your organization’s systems with over 150 pre-built connectors to accomplish compliance tasks like responding to subject rights requests or generating records of processing activities. Unified Consent keeps preferences in sync with tools like HubSpot and Salesforce.
Responsive, human support. Customers get a named customer success manager and hands-on implementation help. “The support from our rep has been second to none,” wrote one senior web developer.
A vendor invested in your compliance. Osano’s No Fines, No Penalties guarantee covers up to $500,000 in regulatory fines if you’re penalized while using Osano as documented. No other privacy platform offers this kind of guarantee, and it gives us a direct stake in your compliance: when your program is on the line, so is our money. That’s why we work to keep your setup current and your questions answered and why about 90% of our customers stay with us.
Privacy-forward AI capabilities. Osano’s AI capabilities target the most tedious, low-risk tasks with the biggest impact on users’ compliance. That includes cookie classification, subject rights request routing, and compliance scanning summaries. Compliance decisions, however, remain in the human user’s hands. Recognizing that users aren’t always privacy experts, Osano’s AI assistant is available to answer compliance questions, always citing authoritative sources like legal statutes or regulatory guidance. In fact, Osano’s AI is the first and only AI assistant to pass the official CIPP/US practice exam. For questions on critical, niche, or nuanced subjects, users can escalate to Osano’s human privacy experts to weigh in.
Implementation and Day-to-Day Ownership
Say legal wants your banner’s wording changed before a campaign launches Monday, and engineering’s next open sprint is three weeks out. With Osano, your privacy owner makes that change from the dashboard. The banner runs on one script. We recommend loading it first in your page’s <head> so it can step in before third-party code runs, but you can also deploy it through Google Tag Manager if you want more granular control.
Ketch gives technical teams more to work with. Its native SDKs, APIs, and configuration options let engineers shape consent around a custom data stack. If you have developers assigned to privacy, that flexibility pays off. If you don’t, the same options become setup work: deciding how regions behave, connecting each downstream system, and keeping it all current. For a team without developers to spare, all of that lands on whoever owns privacy.
Right-Sizing: Which Platform Fits Your Team?
Ketch fits teams that treat privacy as part of their data infrastructure. If you have privacy or data engineers ready to wire consent into a customer data platform, an identity graph, and your own AI pipelines, Ketch gives them plenty to work with. That work takes real engineering time, and Ketch’s own reviewers say so: “Some integrations require more engineering effort than expected,” an enterprise user wrote on G2.
Osano fits teams of every size, whether or not they have engineers to spare, including companies like:
- Gear Patrol, a publisher with fewer than 50 employees and 5.5 million monthly readers
- Lattice, a people management company with more than 500 employees
- Fender, a musical instruments manufacturer that employs thousands of people
And if you do have privacy engineers on staff, Osano frees them for the projects that need an engineer rather than monopolizing their time managing compliance solutions.
Total Cost of Ownership as Your Program Grows
A cookie banner’s price tag says little about what you’re getting. Osano’s CMP checks what’s running on every page it’s installed on, every time the page loads, and our privacy experts keep its consent logic current across 95+ privacy laws in 50+ countries. Basic, Pro, and Complete plans add Compliance Check, guided onboarding and support, and the No Fines, No Penalties guarantee.
As your program grows, you won’t need a new vendor to keep up. When a new state law brings subject rights requests or an audit asks for a data map, those tools are already part of the platform you run. Before you sign with anyone, ask what those additions will cost later and what’s included in implementation and ongoing support. And when it’s time to renew, Osano gives you 90 days’ notice before any price increase.
Count your team’s time, too. If configuration changes run through engineering, that’s a cost even when it doesn’t show up on an invoice. With Osano, your privacy owner makes those changes without filing a ticket.

Website Scanning and Consent Monitoring
You can’t get consent for trackers you don’t know about. Osano’s CMP checks what’s running on every page it’s installed on, every time that page loads, including pages behind logins and pages that never made it into your sitemap.
Because the recommended Osano implementation is to install its JavaScript in your page’s <head> element, anything that loads before the Osano script wouldn’t be visible to the platform. That’s why Osano runs a scheduled URL scan to account for anything its script can’t see.
Osano provides another safety net in the form of Compliance Check. This compliance monitoring solution tests whether your consent setup works the way your banner says it does. It checks whether trackers fire before consent, whether Reject All and Global Privacy Control signals are honored, and whether your banner uses dark patterns, all on your homepage and privacy policy page.
Ketch’s scanner, Iris, takes a different approach. It sorts your pages into groups based on the trackers they run, then scans a small sample of each group and applies those results to the rest. By Ketch’s own description, that sample can be “just one or two pages for a cohort of 50,000.” If a tracker shows up on a page Iris didn’t sample, you won’t know until a later discovery cycle catches it.
Iris scans your site from the outside, on cycles Ketch hasn’t published a schedule for. Ketch also hasn’t said whether Iris can reach pages behind a login. Osano’s script runs inside those pages on every visit.
Who Keeps Your Consent Rules Current?
Privacy laws keep changing, and every change has to become a rule in your banner and blocking setup. Ketch gives you pre-configured jurisdiction templates to start from, or you can build your own. For updates when laws change, Ketch points to its Agent Network (in private beta as of this writing), where an AI agent drafts the changes and queues them for your approval. That puts an AI in charge of interpreting the law and leaves your team responsible for catching anything it gets wrong. If a draft misreads a new requirement and gets approved, the gap sits in your banner until someone notices.
With Osano, our privacy experts handle it. When a state adds a new opt-out requirement, we review the law before it goes live, work out what it means for your banner, and update the logic in every region it touches. We cover 95+ privacy laws in 50+ countries, so your people can spend their time on the parts of the program only your company can handle.
That work is backed by the No Fines, No Penalties guarantee: if you’re penalized while using Osano as documented, we cover up to $500,000 in regulatory fines. When the people keeping your rules current share the cost of getting them wrong, they have every reason to get them right. When your own team approves an AI’s draft, that cost stays with you.
